About

Name: shadowfax.HORSE.

Age: Since early 2026.

No, I mean your age. Ah, gotcha. I’m in my 30s.

Appearance: Ghostly nothingness. The void. The abyss.

Meaning…? I’m an anonymous denizen of the blogosphere.

What if you’re unmasked – won’t you be embarrassed? Probably. Don’t bother trying to figure out who I am – it really wouldn’t be very interesting. I’d be fine with my identity being revealed. I simply want to maintain an online presence that’s not obviously linked to <first name> <last name>, and that isn’t social media.

I spotted an em-dash! Is this written by AI? No. It’s an en-dash, and you used one too!

Gasp! Am I AI, too? No. Absolutely no LLMs are used at shadowfax.HORSE. The term “AI” is too broad, and has a long history of meaning different things, and having its goalposts shifted. Currently, it refers to assistants powered by large language models, thus “LLM.” I use it at work when it makes sense to do so, but I don’t enjoy it. This site is for fun, so everything is done without LLMs, including the code. To me, writing is thinking – why would I delegate that?

What are you writing and thinking about, then? Remains to be seen. The most likely outcome is “nothing, because I got distracted by something else.”

Where does the name come from? Are you a big Lord of the Rings fan? Not more than average. I just wanted a .horse domain, and Shadowfax was the first horse that came to mind.

Ahh, so you’re a horse girl! I’ve seen horsegiirL live – does that count?

Do say: “Your barn, your rules.”

Don’t say: “Didn’t you steal this format from The Guardian?”
